About

How it Began

It all began on a roadtrip. During the drive, Alexis pitched a thought-provoking question to Meredith based on an idea that had been ignited deep within. What if there was a modern alternative to organized religion?

We spent the entire drive discussing and ideating what this could look like. We wanted a space to learn about all sorts of ancient and modern spiritual practices, build community with like-minded people, and have a convenient, expansive library of resources to continuously evolve our own individual identities. We figured we couldn’t be alone in our search.

We couldn’t find what we were looking for, so we decided to build it. We look forward to building optimystic with you.

Two women on a mission

Together, we are revolutionizing spirituality.

Our Vision

A world in which individual spirituality is celebrated and unity is found in shared values, free from religious labels.

Our Mission

To build a modern alternative to organized religion
by stimulating spiritual exploration through
curated, accessible and approachable experiences.

Guiding Principles

We believe spirituality is a core characteristic of being human. We encourage questioning the purpose of life, balance of energy, and connection to something bigger than ourselves.

We believe that every person has a right to define their own set of beliefs rooted in what resonates with their soul, free from religious doctrines and dogmas.

We believe spirituality is inclusive all of all beings and embrace the sacred worth of every person with love and respect. We welcome diverse perspectives and anyone seeking connection, guidance, and belonging.

We believe in the thoughtful exploration of ancient and modern spiritual practices guided by curiosity and vulnerability.

We believe there are no set rules in spirituality. There is no right or wrong way to practice - only a desire to explore the inner self and connect to something meaningful.

We believe that spiritual wellness is as important as our physical and mental health, and should be prioritized as such.

Our Sacred Promises

No Venture Capital

We avoid venture capital, because we believe spirituality is sacred and is not an industry meant to be greedily capitalized. We’re backed by a small group of investors that align with our values and vision, not eager to take hasty decisions and make a quick buck. The revenue from subscriptions enables us to establish and develop the technological infrastructure, quality programming, and new features that deliver value to our community of mysfits.

Wages Match Worth

We believe quality work should be rewarded accordingly. We are committed to compensating our practitioners, contractors, and employees that honors their talent and contribution.

Transparency

We lead with the greatest degree of integrity - a cornerstone of a trust in relationships, business, and life. We welcome questions and feedback from our community and honor them with openness and transparency.

We believe in a world in which optimystic inspires generations, enriches the whole self, and is a globally acceptable modern alternative to organized religion.
