Our Vision
A world in which individual spirituality is celebrated and unity is found in shared values, free from religious labels.
What We’re Building
optimystic is a daily practice app where the spiritually curious explore, discover, and belong — drawing on wisdom from traditions ancient and modern, without asking anyone to commit to one.
Launching 11.11.2026
Our Mission
To build a modern alternative to organized religion by stimulating spiritual exploration through curated, accessible and approachable experiences.
Why Now?
At least one in five American adults describe themselves as spiritual but not religious. They left the institutions; they didn't leave the questions. What went with the institutions was the infrastructure — somewhere to practice, a calendar that marks the year, people who share the search.
The wellness market answered with meditation timers and sleep stories. Useful tools, but not a practice, and certainly not a community. Nobody built the container.
That's the gap we're building for. Not a shortage of belief — a shortage of places to practice without being asked to sign on to a doctrine first.
What We Believe
Spirituality is a core part of being human.
The impulse to ask why we're here, to sense a balance of energy, to reach toward something bigger — that isn't a fringe interest. It's a basic human capacity, and it deserves the same attention we give our physical and mental health.
-
What resonates with your soul is yours to determine. There is no correct way to practice and no test to pass — only an honest desire to explore.
-
We approach every tradition we cover with real respect and real rigor, and we ask the same openness of ourselves that we invite in others.
-
We embrace the sacred worth of every person. Whatever you believe, whatever you've left behind, whatever you're still working out — you belong in this.
Our Promises
We’re careful about capital
Spirituality is one of the oldest and most personal parts of being human. We don't think it should be sold to the highest bidder or steered by people who see it as a market first and a meaning second.
So we're deliberate about who we build with. We take investment from partners who share our values and our patience — people invested in what this becomes, not how quickly it exits. Beyond that, we're funded by the people who use it. Subscription revenue is what pays for the practitioners we work with, the programming we make, and the technology that holds it together.
Wages match worth
Quality work deserves to be paid like it. We're committed to compensating our practitioners, contractors, and employees in a way that honors their talent and their contribution.
Transparency together
Transparency is the cornerstone of trust — in relationships, in business, and in life. We welcome questions and hard feedback from our community, and we answer them openly.
The Founders
-
Co-Founder & CEO
Alexis spent twelve years at a global construction technology company, starting as a field engineer and rising to lead a $500M business unit with full P&L ownership — an education in building things that hold up under pressure. Her award-winning leadership approach combines data-driven decision making with curiosity for the human experience — a philosophy that now drives the company's mission to make diverse spiritual practices accessible to millions of people worldwide.
Her commitment to empowering underrepresented voices extends beyond the corporate world. As past Board President of a STEM non-profit dedicated to advancing girls in science and technology, she championed initiatives that opened doors for the next generation of female leaders. This same passion for breaking down barriers now fuels her work in democratizing spiritual education.
She's also an oil painter with a long-running interest in comparative spirituality and cross-cultural symbolism, which is the thread that led here. She grew up in Austin, earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas, received her MBA at Auburn University, and now lives outside Boston with her wife, daughter, and two dogs.
